Astigmatic Keratotomy

Astigmatic Keratotomy is a surgical technique used to correct regular astigmatism (that is not pathologic like keratoconus). It consists in creating small curved incisionsin the peripheral cornea portions, with a pre-calibrated diamond scalpel.

Astigmatic Keratotomy can achieve great results with regular Astigmatism, when the goal is saving the central portion of the cornea. We often rely on this technique with excellent results in case of patients with astigmatism that have undergone cataract surgery, artificial lens implant, or corneal transplant

Astigmatic Keratotomy is performed after a topic anaesthesia (anaesthetic eye drops) and ca rely on instruments that assure good precision when making curved cuts (keratotomi).
