Refractive Phacoemulsification surgery can be used to correct serious astigmatism problems through the implant of an intraocular toric lens, for patients that are more than 45 years old. In this case, the natural lens, even if transparent, is substituted with an intraocular lens (artificial lens) that can also be custom made in case of high degree astigmatism.
If last generation lenses are used, it can also be possible to correct presbyopia together with astigmatism. The cost of this surgery may vary depending on the lens implanted.
