When to get Hypermetropia Laser Surgery?

Which is te best age to undergo Hypermetropia surgery?

The minimum age for eye laser surgery is 18-20.Hypermetropia must have been stable for at least 2 years.
If hypermetropia conditions are not stable, myopia can come back after surgery, and a new treatment could become necessary.

When patients are 45 years old or more, other treatments are available to correct myopia, based upon lens substitution. This is the case of the so called Refractive Phacoemulsification surgery, consisting in substituting the original lens with an intraocular one that makes it possible to properly see far and near objects without glasses.

There are several kinds of intraocular lens that allow to correctly focus on near and far objects without having to rely on glasses (multifoca, bifocal, trifocal, High Tech, etc.), and Dr. Badalà uses all the most innovative lenses in Milan and Catania.

How about Hypermetropia surgery after turning 60?

When patients are more than 60 years old, it is usually no longer convenient to perform myopia laser surgery, because there are often other eye conditions at play, like the opacity of the lens: such conditions could make myopia come back in a short period of time. The best choice is to go with Refractive Phacoemulsification surgery, consisting in substituing the natural lens with an intraocular one, able to correct myopia and astigmatism.

Depending on the kind of intraocular lens used to correct myopia, it may be or may not be necessary to rely on glasses to focus on near objects. Latest generation intraocular lens make it possible to focus on near and far objects without glasses (multifoca, bifocal, trifocal, High Tech, etc.); D. Badalà uses all the most innovative lenses available in Milan and Catania.

Is it possible to cure hypermetropia on both eyes simultaneously?

Today this is standard procedure for laser surgery. Where myopia is treated via the implant of phakic intraocular lenses or Refractive Phacoemulsification surgery, usually one eye is operated first, while the second one is treated a couple of days after.

There are cases when the ophthalmologist could decide to operate both eyes at the same time even in these circumstances, but it should be considered an exception. Dr. Badalà performed this surgeries at the same time in Milan.

After having consulted several doctors, last year I turned to Dr. Badalà because I felt a discomfort to the eye. At first sight Dr. Badalà realized that there was something wrong in my right eye and, after a thorough e... Keep on reading this reviewxamination and an OCT, he confirmed the presence of a hole in the retina (which no other doctor had seen before) and he suggested me a vitrectomy.

After consulting other doctors who, despite having confirmed the diagnosis, suggested me to wait, I decided to entrust Dr. Badalà, because he inspired me with confidence during the visit.

I had a vitrectomy under local anesthesia about five months ago. The surgery was good and my eyesight has improved and I no longer see distorted images.

The thing that struck me most is that at first I was so used to don’t  see well that I didn’t  realize it, so much so that I had turned to Dr. Badalà just for a burning sensation to the eye. Thanks to the professionalism and accuracy of Dr. Badalà today I realize I see much better.
