The minimum age for eye laser surgery is 18-20.Myopia must have been stable for at least 2 years.
If myopia conditions are not stable, myopia can come back after surgery, and a new treatment could become necessary.
When patients are 45 years old or more, other treatments are available to correct myopia, based upon lens substitution. This is the case of the so called Refractive Phacoemulsification surgery, consisting in substituting the original lens with an intraocular one that makes it possible to properly see far and near objects without glasses.
There are several kinds of intraocular lens that allow to correctly focus on near and far objects without having to rely on glasses (multifoca, bifocal, trifocal, High Tech, etc.), and Dr. Badalà uses all the most innovative lenses in Milan and Catania.
