Glaucoma is a disease that can seriously impair vision, leading to blindness damaging the Optic Nerve irreversibly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High intraocular pressure is the worse prognostic \u00a0factor in Glaucoma<\/strong>, therefore\u00a0<strong>patients<\/strong>\u00a0with Glaucoma should\u00a0<strong>avoid everything that raises the intraocular pressure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sports where the head is lower than the rest of the body<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>are associated<\/strong>\u00a0with a raise in the venous pressure of the head resulting in an\u00a0<strong>intraocular pressure raise<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A recent study from\u00a0<em>NYEE<\/em>\u00a0(<em>New York Eye and Ear Infirmary<\/em>) researchers pubblished on the American Journal\u00a0<em>PLOS One\u00a0<\/em>shows that\u00a0<strong>four Yoga positions<\/strong>,\u00a0called also \u201casana\u201d,\u00a0<strong>are associated with an intraocular pressure raise<\/strong>.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microchirurgiaoculare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/yoga.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9921\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9921\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microchirurgiaoculare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/yoga-300x243.png\" alt=\"yoga\" width=\"300\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.microchirurgiaoculare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/yoga-300x243.png 300w, https:\/\/www.microchirurgiaoculare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/yoga.png 370w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These are the worse positions where the head is lower than the rest of the body: the downward dog, the torso flexion, the plow position and the legs against the wall posture. Glaucoma patients should avoid these positions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intraocular pressure increases during these yoga positions, especially during the downward dog<\/strong>.
